The city’s round-the-clock construction boom has sent noise complaints soaring to record highs, topping 53,600 over the past fiscal year, stats show...
With construction increasing, lawmakers introduced legislation in May to limit noise at work sites within 75 feet of a school.
City Councilman Mark Levine (D) said the bill was prompted by the construction of a 20-foot tower next door to PS 163 in his district on the Upper West Side.
“We believe this is becoming more common as the construction boom gains speed all over the city,” Levine said.
